Railway launches app to provide online ticketing services
Bangladesh Railway today launched a new mobile app, "Rail Sheba", for providing online ticketing services.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today launched the app at a programme in Rail Bhaban.
The app was developed by Bangladesh Railway's vendor firm led by Shohoz.
From now on, passengers can purchase train tickets by using the app.
Passengers can download the app from Google Play. After the app installation, passengers need to register first, where they need to provide necessary information including name, mobile number, email address, preferred identification number etc. If the passenger is already a registered passenger on the e-ticket website, then the passenger does not need to register again and can login with the existing mobile number and password.
To buy tickets using the "Rail Sheba" app, passengers need to select their preferred starting station and destination. They then have to select their preferred class, preferred date and search for available trains. Passengers will be able to check train details for their desired trains. After selecting the available train, passengers can select the available seats from different coaches, which will be shown in the train seat layout. Following train and seat selection, passengers can pay for ticket(s) by using their preferred debit/credit cards or mobile financial services.
The e-ticket (PDF copy of the ticket) will be sent to the passenger's registered email and ticket(s) can also be downloaded with the click of a button on the app.
