OpenAI to release DALL-E 3, the latest version of their AI art generator
OpenAI, the company behind the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, has recently announced the newest version of their AI art generator, DALL-E 3. As per the company, the third iteration of DALL-E can process more nuanced prompts than previous versions to provide more accurate and detailed imagery to users.
In the official blog post announcing the brand new AI generator, OpenAI states that modern text-to-image generators sometimes struggle to translate text prompts to images, forcing users to learn prompt engineering to effectively produce unique and engaging pieces of art. However, DALL-E 3 will not require users to know prompt engineering, as it will be able to translate text to images much better than DALL-E or DALL-E 2, says OpenAI.
OpenAI also adds that the new version of DALL-E is built natively on ChatGPT, which means users of the chatbot can use the art generator seamlessly. ChatGPT can also be used to produce text prompts that DALL-E 3 can follow, which can be short, simple sentences to long, detailed paragraphs. If the user is unhappy with the image output, they can use ChatGPT to tweak the prompt to keep producing more results.
As per OpenAI, DALL-E 3 is currently in research preview. It will be made available to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise customers in October. It is currently unknown if OpenAI plans to launch a free version of DALL-E 3 in the future.
