Blackpink won't renew solo contracts with YG Entertainment
Today, YG Entertainment, the agency for Blackpink, officially announced that they won't extend the individual contracts of the members for solo ventures. According to Soompi, the agency conveyed its intention to enthusiastically support the members in their individual pursuits. Notably, all four Blackpink members have recently renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment specifically for group activities.
YG Entertainment declared in an official statement that the Blackpink members (Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa) will not enter into exclusive contracts with the agency for their individual endeavours beyond the group.
The declaration by the agency stated, "Blackpink recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for the members' individual activities. We will do our utmost to support Blackpink's activities, and we will cheer on the members' individual activities with warm hearts."
In December of this year, YG Entertainment quelled rumors by confirming that Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa of Blackpink will continue their group activities with the agency. On December 6, YG Entertainment stated, "After careful discussions with BLACKPINK, we signed exclusive contracts for group activities based on deep trust."
Blackpink made their debut in 2016 with the single album "Square One", which included hits like "Whistle" and "Boombayah". This was followed by the single album "Square Two". The group achieved significant success with popular songs such as "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" (2018), "Kill This Love" (2019), and "How You Like That" (2020). Their Born Pink World Tour (2022–23) set a record as the highest-grossing concert tour by a girl group.
